Flowering Dogwood, so gorgeous.

This little beauty has been on my wish list ever since we moved here. I had never seen a Dogwood before. The first spring we were here I went t a local botanical garden and I just feel in love with it. The tag said part shade, even though I see them right in the open all over the place. Maybe is this particular species that has this light requirement. I'll have to keep an eye on mine, it might be getting too much sun in this spot. She sure is gorgeous, so glad my Jamo got her for me. I've bee looking for the perfect shade of pink, it's my favorite, as you can tell by the nail polish, lol. 

A little decorating, just for fun.

Trying to stay busy by catching up on all kinds of little projects. Today I painted, distressed and sealed this set of cute Gothic looking shutters. I managed to put together a little reading nook just for me. I think this is the perfect spot for it. Our little cottage came with a lot of  perks, like these two huge vintage picture windows, perfect for reading. 

I've been on the hunt, for a little night stand that didn't look at all like the other night stand. I don't like things to match whenever possible. I like things to be unique and different, not like they came out of a furniture store all matchy-matchy. I've had it for a while, but it's spring time and the garden keeps calling me. 

I love these fern wreaths, they're so springy looking. I can dress them up a little for Christmas or enjoy them like this. 

My David Austin in full bloom.

My first David Austins roses here in Alabama. Got a couple of them anchoring the side of the rail fence that's all around the kitchen garden. I got them bare root and that always makes me a little nervous weather they'll take or not. As you can see, she sure is beautiful and happy and healthy. 

                                                             More blooms to come soon and I can't wait.

Garden beds are doing great. I have some parsley, lettuces and tomatoes on this one. So far so good, had to protect them from my happy squirrels that want to dig everything up.  I leave a little area for them and the rest for us, plenty to share after all we're only two.   

Here I have onions and a couple of pepper plants that I was able to over winter. They did do great last year and I'm hoping to get another year from them. Still working on the drip irrigation for the beds, almost done.

These are volunteer Petunias that come up everywhere and I love them. Here I collected a few and filled hanging basket with them, so pretty. 

The garden at night, It's magical.

I decided to add some light to the side little garden trellis. I want to grow cucumbers on it this year. Added a few more lights throughout the garden and wow what a difference that made. I'm sure I will be adding more, so enjoying my view at night now.  

Added those 2 huge trellises this year and can't wait to see them a full of green. Planted Painted Lady Runner Beans on the side and tomatoes in the center. It's going to be beautiful and so practice. I love the water fountain right where it is, I think it leads you to want to go to the back of the garden.  But, it's hard to hear it from the back porch.

I'm calling this little area," The Cottage Garden" area. The arch leads to the shed that I've been putting ship lap on the exterior. This little arch will frame the shed and the surrounding garden in front of it.

Been thinking of turning this fountain into a giant feature planter, wouldn't that be beautiful. Need to do some research on the drill bit, I sure don't want to crack or brake it. Been wanting to do that for a while and I think I'm just afraid to go for it. I want to get few smaller water features to place near paths that we use all the time. I think that will let me enjoy the sounds through the garden better and more spots for the birds to get a drink from.

Large arch garden trellis.

For some reason I have the need to have light all around me all the time. I've always had to open the curtain first thing in the morning in order to start my day. I love light and clarity all around the house, it makes me happy. But, for some reason I found myself wanting the same thing for our back garden. We don't really have a whole lot of lighting in the back yard and I have a clear view from the double doors. 

I still need more lights, maybe some path lights?? Not sure what else I'm going to add, but for now I started on the trellis. I started by collecting some branches from my sister's property, she lives in a little farm with lots of wood and plenty to pick from. I tied the bundles together with a zip tied and then covered the zip ties with some burlap. I then meandered the lights throughout the branches. At night the little branches light up and it looks so pretty and cheerful.   

How I'm spending my time during the Corona virus lock down.

So I watched the briefing and that's it, back to the garden. That's how I'm coping, gardening and later on the week crafting. My hubby would of loved for me to add on some cooking, lol.

Planted 35 Sweet Peas and I've only seen one so far, but I sure got lots last year. I think it got too hot too soon. My Yesterday Today and Tomorrow is starting to bloom out and oh my, the scent. I need to propagate this plant, I want it all over. I so recommend it.

My mom gave this Yesterday Today and Tomorrow when I left Miami. I carefully took her with me to Alabama and now she also found a home in our new garden.

My gorgeous Tulip Magnolia.

This pretty is new to me this year and it's absolutely gorgeous. It's has the softest pale shade of pink and the flower is the size of a dinner plate. I planted her were I can see her from our little back porch, looking forward to many years of enjoyment.

Potatoes, 2020 garden season.

So far so good on my potatoes. I have a bit of room left like about one and half rows and I think I'm going to do bush beans, new to me. 

 These went in a little late this year because of the rain, about 2 weeks lat. Last year I had an amazing crop, lets see what happens this year.

Peach blossoms, so gorgeous.

The garden is waking up and everything is so pretty, LOVE. 

         This is my very first peach tree, actually I've never seen a peach blossom before. Never have!

Cute baking journal cover, pink and cakes, oh yes.

My latest TN style journal cover, so pretty. Pink cakes, what's not to love. I'm using mine to journal and keep all my icing recipes, my notes and recommendation and lots of pictures of my previous cakes and baking goodness. It's reversible and I'm still not sure if I'm putting eyelets or not. I've also started on a cute matching charm. 

The journal cover is 12 X 12 1/4 inches (opened). The inside is covered in a floral print. It's constructed all in fabric with a sturdy insert stabilizer that gives it body, but it's not stiff, it's pliable.
It's stitched all around with neat miter corner.

My first floral arrangement for the garden season, 2020.

Finally got a little something to make an arrangements with. These Tulips are so pretty, I did enjoy them in the garden for almost 2 weeks and they're starting to go. I was able to save a few for this arrangement, I didn't have a whole lot of green so I used some Parsley and I think it worked.  

I'm really excited about being able to grow Tulips now. I use to garden in Zone 10, subtropical, this is a real treat for us. Even my Jamo loves them.
