Summer garden almost done for the year.
I'm still enjoying some late bloomers. We've started cleaning up and getting the beds ready for fall planting, can't wait.
Jamo got me this bird feeder and it's a hit, the birds love it. I'm working on a feeding station for the squirrels. I'm thinking, maybe some kind of tray that I can mount on top of a 4x4??? I figure that I can load it up with veggies and nuts, specially in the winter time. A project for this fall, going to keep their feeder on the other side of the garden under the Pecan tree, the squirrels love it there.
I opened up and cleaned out this path. It was over grown by this time in the summer. The cleaning up is so simple with this gravel, I just used the blower. Using gravel as mulch was the best thing ever. I love the feel of it under my feet and the sound it makes, can't say enough about it.

Fall is almost here.
Trying to capture my love for the colors of fall. We are so ready for some chilly weather and pretty fall leaves. Trying to find more ways to slowdown, relax and welcome more fall rituals. Thank you Lord for our seasons.

Floral arrangements from the garden.
Looking back at my blessings from this summer's garden season. Most of the flowers I grew from seeds. Flowers just make my soul happy.

The end of the summer garden season.
The garden is winding down here in the south. The cleaning has begun. Now planning the fall garden season. But, there's still plenty to harvest.

My Cuban Yuca.
May I brag a little, this is my Cuban Yuca from Miami. My mom gave me a start, and we nursed it all winter long. Jamo had the great idea to put Christmas lights all over like a Christmas tree (timer). I still had to covered it up with blankets and a tarp every single night. Look at this baby now taller than the house, harvesting as soon as it cools up just a bit. The things we do for love.
It's a root harvest, in the jam family. We boil it until it's tender and soft and make a little warm mojo. My dad was the best at this, now my sister makes it. I really can't cook, I grow it, she makes it. Delish.
Will I grow it again? It's a subtropical, not for this zone. I'm happy to know that I did it, at least once. There's plenty of great thing to grow here and much to learn, so I think I'll stick to my garden zone and this awesome Alabama fertile soil.

Just a few more weeks left of summer.
With just a few more weeks left of summer, my flowers will be gone soon. I was surprise that I was able to gather so many of them. It's hot and my poor flowers are just hanging on, but still so pretty. Hubby built me a flowers press, and I'm so grateful. I've never pressed flowers before, so excited to try. A friend just told me that she use to frame hers, now that's a great idea. Now to wait and see what happens in a few week.
The light purple with the yellow center in the middle is a flower bloom from the eggplant, how pretty.

Sometimes you just need to look at pretty things.
I can't wait for this Covid to just be over with. You can't turn on the TV, it's all so sad. Even though you trust in God and I think being worried means that you don't think God's in control? But, some days I just can't help it. I have placed my entire family in God's hands. First thing I'm going to do when all this is over is go down and see my mom.

Fabric cover mini journals.
Been spending a lot of time in my studio lately and loving every minute of it, thank you Lord for allowing me to do that. Put these cute mini journal books together from a piece of salvage fabric and some old book pages and I made sure to leave plenty of blank pages to write on. For the closure I just wrapped a piece of silk sari ribbon, that can be easily adjusted as the book grows, at least that's the plan. I just had to add bit of pink, so I used a piece of a vintage bracelet. Going to be gifting one to a special friend that has blessed me with some of her beautiful art work and planning on using the other inside a larger journal. I'm thinking like a journal within a journal, why not.

Carrots gone to seed.
I'm so doing this every year. These are the beautiful blooms of carrots when they go to seed. They remind me of Queen Ann's Lace, that's impossible to grow in the deep south. These are just as pretty and I can use them in so many ways. The carrots are still good, they will be a little tough, but perfectly fine to use on stews. I just can't get over how very beautiful they are.

Tea cup and roses.
This sweet little arrangement is such a treat, specially because I don't have many blooms to pick from. It's August in the south, my poor plants are just trying to hang on. The pretty tea cup is proud garage sale find, so dainty looking. Thank you Lord for my miniature Roses, you made them perfect.

The garden is hanging in there.
It's amazing how well the garden is doing considering all this heat. The tomato flowers are just falling right off, the plant is trying to stay alive. Need to start cleaning up very soon. I love cleaning the garden after the season, it's like a new beginning. The're is something pretty to always look at, I think God designed it that way just for us.
