Front porch reveal, fall 2018

I followed my initial idea of a black and white porch and I really like how it turned out. I can add pops of colors with plants, cushions and other decorating accessories. The floor we stained and sealed and the door is a Rust-oleum paint.

I been looking for these vintage metal garden chairs for a long time. I kept finding some but in very bad condition. These were green , I primed them with Kiehl's and them paint, love them.

New metal table, decorated for fall.

SO excited how this sweet little metal table turned out. I found it at a garage sale for a few dollars. I did spray paint the top in white because I was going for a farmhouse look. I'm getting ready to set up and decorate our front porch. The full front porch reveal coming soon.

Living room fall decor.

What's a girl to do when you haven't found the furniture that your looking for? Well, you make do with what you have. The bench by the window and the coffee table are going on the front porch, but for now I'll use them here.
The first thing I do when I get up in the morning is pull back the curtains and let the sunshine in. I love this room and I think is because of these big windows that let all this light in, it makes me happy.

Garden journal post on my Lavender plant that's dying.

This is a Lavender plant and is dying. I live in Zone 7, very humid summer. I did a bit of research, can this be too much water??? I hardly watered it. First time growing it. Should I cut it all back to try and save it??? What to do, I would love to grow Lavender.

I took her out of the grown and going to re pot in a clay pot and put her when I can control the water. I know they like it hot and dry. I'll bring her in when the temps go down. Sure hope I can save here.

Garden journal entry, late Sept. 1018

Found this beauty in Lee st, in late Sept. I have never seen this before is absolutely gorgeous. It would look so beautiful in flower arrangements. After asking around and doing some research I found out what it is. It's a Pyracantha and I'm on the hunt for one. It does have thorns, minor detail for all this beauty.

Pyracantha ("from Greek pyr fire and akanthus a thorn" hence firethorn) [2] is a genus of large, thorny evergreen shrubs in the family Rosaceae, with common names firethorn or pyracantha. They are native to an area extending from Southwest Europe east to Southeast Asia. They resemble and are related to Cotoneaster, but have serrated leaf margins and numerous thorns (Cotoneaster is thornless).
Flowers

The plants reach up to 6 m (20 ft) tall. The seven species have white flowers and either red, orange, or yellow berries (technically pomes). The flowers are produced during late spring and early summer; the berries develop from late summer, and mature in late autumn.

Garden journal entry, 10/1/18

I have a really pretty garden journal that I love. But I need some visuals until I buy one of those cute little printers for quick pics. For now I'm using my blog.
I just found a bunch of these, just eating up my tree.
By the way, I've had a few private messages of friends that can't seam to find my blog. I'm sorry about that, have no idea what's going on???

After asking some very smart local ladies, it turns out to
be a giant Swallowtail caterpillar. I like butterflies, now what to do?
I found them on my citrus tree.

Look how pretty they are, but they're destroying my tree.

This damage I'm pretty sure is Japanese beetles, but going to research some more.

Both of them can be handled with this, but I don't want to kill the butterflies and I prefer not to use chemicals in my garden. What to do???

It's coming along.

So far so good, we're almost finished with the painting. We want to add shutters and paint the door. I'm going for a black and white look. The hardest part is deciding on the color for the porch floor, not sure if we're doing gray or a black stain????? Decisions, Decisions.
