Sometimes you need to step away from all the political stuff and work on things that make you happy. So I decided to play with my happy planner.

Today I needed to work on something creative. So I set up this beading caddy that I had gotten at Michael's a few years back. I have since outgrown my beading supplies, but I still like the caddy. I'm using it as my home "to do" station, but it's also holding my planner supplies . I love all the little pockets and dividers. Let the planning begin.
It's been a couple of very heavy days here in Miami. With lots of happiness and sadness. Happiness because Castro's death symbolizes so much to so many. Sadness, because so many did not live to see this day, like my dad. All my life growing up I kept hearing that Castro was going to die soon. Well so many passed away waiting for this day. This man bought so much misery to the Cuban people and separated so many families.
But there are blessings to be found in every situation. Had it not been for Castro my family would of never fled into exile. Forever grateful to this, the greatest, nation that I proudly call home.
My family arrived in Miami when I was barely 10 years old. I do remember the 2 years prior to us leaving, all that was done to my family. We lost our home and ration card. We bounced around, I don't even remember how many different schools I had to go to. Ridicule and discriminated, labeled traitors, just because we were not communist. My dad was put in a work camp for 2 years in deplorable conditions, unrecognizable to me when he finally came home.
Would I ever go back to Cuba to visit???? I don't know..... I have curiosity. But for sure I will never visit and support that regime, maybe some day when It's finally FREE.
As Cuban Americans in Miami erupts in celebration after the death of Castro. Cuban's in the island are blocking family members on Facebook because they are not allowed to see Miami's news feed. People are scared to turn on the radio and no one has their Christmas lights on. Cuba has to mourn Castro's death weather you like it or not.
FREEDOM IS A BEAUTIFUL THING. I LOVE THIS COUNTRY.

I'm going to need a home "project" binder for next year so I've decided to create one by recycling some materials. I so need to use what I already have, not buying a thing. This binder I used for a while to store my thin dies but I soon crew out of it. I love the pink and black combo and I think the white stitching is really nice. It has a zipper that goes all the way around, that's perfect by me.
Going to use this paper collection from Joann's that I love. Planning on making some pockets, altering some paperclips and just having fun with it.

I've been wanting to re upholster our back patio furniture, it has seen better days. I prepped and sprayed painted all the frames and that just made the cushions look even more weathered and dull . So I've decided to just go for it and finish the job. Now, when will I get to it is another things. I saw another print that I really liked too, might just go back and get it.
This happy pretty retro like print with the blue and yellow combo reminds me of something and I can't remember. I think is so beautiful, light and airy without being too bright, I think I know what I mean.
Could not leave this little guy behind. I think I'm going to enjoy it all year long as a pencil holder. I love teal and yellow together.
This dragonfly wind-shim is adorable, love the finish on it. It's a bit heavy, so I'm not sure how well it will work, but I love the patina.

I don't know about you guys, but what I enjoy the most, other that the yummy end result is playing with my baking supplies. The night before I sanitize all the work surfaces, wash and clean all the utensils. I then cover them up over night and I'm good to go in the morning.
It's amazing all the cute supplies and specialty flours that are available. Cake pans, fondants and gum paste, stencils and molds, super cute wrappers and bags, But my favorite has the be the pretty edible decorations, OMG. I just love it all.
This is my most treasured of all journals. It's all the tips and tricks for my baking.
My sister Mayra got me this cake tester skewer and I think is adorable.
I made this batch specially for my hubby who kept giving me hints. Planning on baking some for the kids. We do have some nut allergies, so I'm going to try for the first time coconut flour macaroons.
These are the goodies for sale at my sister China's and our friend Beth's annual Christmas bazaar. Loving all the new ideas they came up with this year. These ladies are amazing, the hard and creative work shows, love it all. You are truly blessed when you can earn a living doing what you love. They also have a couple of concession booth at different locations, that alone keeps them very busy all year long.

Found this powerful photo at my elementary school friend's FB page, Lazarito. We first met in Chicago at an ESL class in 1970, we both had just gotten here from Cuba. I was 9 years old and him about the same. After high school he joined the Marines, He's a proud ex Marine and it shows. THANKS, that all that are serving and have served. .
Yesterday was our 16th wedding anniversary and my 56th birthday. My hubby planned the entire day, he's never done anything like this before, It was great. First he got my truck cleaned, that alone would of been a great gift for me. Then we drove to the keys, first we had brunch and the best Key Lime muffin, never had one. Then a little shopping, I got the most relaxing pedicure and we strolled around the keys. Finally The evening ended with dinner, champagne and a gorgeous sunset by the water. He gave the day a lot of thought and that means so much to me. Could he possibly be getting romantic at his old age? I'll take it.
He's a simple what you see it's what you get guy. He reminds me a lot of my dad. Love him.

I found this idea on line, I thought I give it a try. I'm making seasonal cover for my Happy Planner from gift bags. It's super simple, just cut them to size then laminate them and finally punch the holes. I think is going to be fun change them around. The cover that's on the planner I made out of a plastic bag that I found at the dollar store, I think is my favorite cover.
